Activities During the Week

Day 8 (August 10, 2018) Friday
•    After fixing our things, we went to our school to see the morning activity. I discovered that every 7:45 until 8:30 in the morning, Muslims and Christians are separating their ways for doing worship. 

•    We don’t have class I just stayed in the teacher room until 12 noon because they said that they are practicing the songs for Independence Day on August 17.

•    After the lunch break, I observed Dr. Asrita and I assisted her when she is teaching basic skills (dribbling and shooting) in footsal. And after the class, I came home.

•    When I came home, I washed my clothes and after that I started to make my lesson plan.

Day 9 (August 11, 2018) Saturday

•    When I woke up, my student picked me up in my dormitory and we went to SMA3 to play basketball with the varsity players of SMA5. 

•    After our exercise, I went to KFC again and eat their spicy chicken. It is very different in our country because for me it is pedas (spicy) but still, enak nian (very delicious). I’m learning Bahasa Indonesia *laughing* 

•    Before I came to my dormitory, I saw my two buddies, Valenda and Visi and they are ready to cook for our dinner. We cooked fried chicken and vegetables for all of us.

•    In the evening, Bang Robi, Kaka Nita, and Kaka Ririn fetched us to play badminton near our dormitory. After we finish playing, we went home and rest.

Day 10 (August 12, 2018) Sunday

•    When we woke up, I felt my body pain because I played basketball and badminton in the same day, and now they said that we will go to Governor’s Office to jog. I just said to myself that all of the time is very limited, so I need to enjoy it while learning.

•    After we finished our exercise, we went to the bazaar and looked for food and I discovered many things like tebu’s, fried hotdogs, and iced milkshakes.

•    In the evening me, Dhane and Rocky went to KFC again to eat spicy chicken with spicy sauce. 

•    When we came home, we continued working on our lesson plan and our presentation for our class for the whole week.

Day 11 (August 13, 2018) Monday 

•    When I arrived in the school, I taught in my first class (IPS2 X1) but unfortunately when we are in the middle of our class, the head of the school called them because they have a practice for Independence Day. It hurts me a liitle bit because it is a three-hour class and I just discussed to the just ¼ of my lesson.

•    After that, I went to teacher room and talked to the teachers and Putri informed me that Dr. Atri will come to the school to visit and observe me for a while. 

•    When Dr. Atri came, we just went to the canteen because my class is finished because of the practice so we just talked about my experience and how I feel about teaching in other country.

•    After that we came home and continued again to fix and edit our lesson. And we are shocked because kuya Hanif came to our dormitory. He is one of the participants in the last batch of Sea Teacher, and he shared about his experiences and he helped how to make blog and to be comfortable in teaching.

Day 12 (August 14, 2018) Tuesday
•    When I arrived in the school, I feel my energy and readiness to teach and it seems like I’m very excited because finally there will be no distractions because the students don’t have practice. 

•    When I discussed and explain to them my topic, I felt very happy because they are participating and learning in our topic. They want to learn some Filipino words and they are very fun to teach because they are all active and funny. And I exit on my class fast because my cooperating teacher told me to go in the teacher room because someone is waiting for me.

•    When I came there, I was shocked because they said that we will go the Immigration office of Jambi because there are some problem regarding to our stay in Jambi. I fixed myself very fast and gets a little bit nervous because I don’t know what’s happening to us.

•    When we came in the office, we are informed that someone reported us to the Immigration office and after that they went to our school to investigate me and my friends.

 
•    After that they gave us some questions to answer about our stay and what are the process on why we are staying and teaching in Jambi. They got our passport and checked it on what’s the reason of our stay and if we have VISA.

•    It’s in the middle of the afternoon and we went to a very far place to request some help regarding our situation. After that we came home to fix ourselves and rest for a while because we will go again in the Immigration office.

•    When we are headed again in the office of Immigration, ma’am Rahmalia told me and Dhane that we are safe because we have VISA but our remaining friends are in stake because they don’t have VISA. 

•    Even if we have VISA they still got our passport and said that we need to wait until evening on what’s the decision of the head officer of Immigration. We came home and relaxed ourselves, talk to each other and I helped them to be cool and relax because I know that all will be fine. 

•    Around 8 in the evening, ma’am Rahmalia said that all is fine but me and Dhane will receive our passport on Thursday and 6 of them will just receive some agreement letter about their stay in Jambi. Sadly, ma’am Lia said that they will not teach again in their respective schools, but they will observe in Jambi University. Me and Dhane will return and teach on Monday (August 19) because we are not allowed to go out from Tuesday until Thursday for our safety.

Day 13 (August 15, 2018) Wednesday
•    The International Office of Jambi University fetched us nine o’clock in the morning. We went to Jambi University to hear the support of the Dean of College of Language, Dean of College of Law and Rector of the University. We thanked them for supporting us because we are still shocked for what happened yesterday.

•    After the meeting, we went to “Es & Pempek Mamad” to eat some traditional food called “Pempek”. It is spicy and very delicious.

Day 14 (August 16, 2018) Thursday

•    Me and Dhane received our passport back and we are able to go out again but to have safety, we need to have one friend or buddy when we are going outside. 

•    Nana Ida cooked us  ”Nasi Goreng Ayam with Purkedel” , it is very delicious and not spicy. *laughing*

•    In the evening, Putri came with me to eat some spicy chicken in KFC and we had a lot of fun when came to play basketball and dance in the “Fun House” of Jamtos. After that, I came to supermarket to buy some ingredients to give on my teachers in SMA5 for Independence Day.
