Activities During the Week

Day 1 (August 3, 2018) Friday
•    We went to the University of Jambi for our orientation

•    We are warmly welcomed by all the staffs, dean, professors, and students in the room

•    All of us participants (ARU and LRU in Thailand + MINSCAT and DLSU-D) introduced our country, city, and most importantly our school.

•    Sir Jose Legaspi give a small talk about the program, our culture, being a Physical Education Professor, and gave some motivational and inspirational words for all the participants/students.

•    After the orientation, we went to the rector of University of Jambi to welcome us, give advice, and especially to take picture. 

•    After going to University of UNJA, we went to near Indonesian Restaurant and we ate some traditional foods.

•    We transferred to another dormitory where we met Nana Ida, the house owner. She is very sweet, like being a real grandmother. She welcomed us showing her motherly smile and sweet laugh. 

•    After we rest, we went to Jamtos, the nearest mall to us where we can eat (KFC, Dunkin Donuts, etc.) buy some foods and things in supermarket, and many more.
•    Before the first day ended, me and other participants had a small talk to know more each other and played some games.

Day 2 (August 4, 2018) Saturday

•    Before we slept yesterday, we planned to clean the toilet this day because it seems like was not used for long time, so we need to clean it.

•    When we finished cleaning, we took a bath and went to Jamtos to buy some foods, drinks at to go around the mall.

•    When we came home, the people from Thailand, cooked for us some Thailand Foods like Pad Thai, and Tom Yum, it is very delicious.

P.S. where are alternately cooking food 

•    After we finished eating, me and Dane fixed ourselves because Dr. Sukendro (Dean of Sports and Science in University of Jambi) and his daughter to go to Batanghari River and Gentala Arasy Tower.

•    When we went to the place, it is very beautiful because the view for me is very peaceful. 

•    We rode a boat going to cross the river and the view is so nice!!!

•    After riding a boat, we ate some Indonesian foods like Bakso, Sweetcorn, and Tebu.

•    We went there until 7pm to see the view of the tower and it is very nice!!!

•    We went straight to the Dean’s house and ate Nasi Goreng and he introduced her wife and daughter (Physical Education major)

•    After we came home we rest and gather with our new friends and do some games like (Pak Ganern)

Day 3 (August 5, 2018) Sunday

•    When we woke up, the daughters of Dr. Sukendro (Putri and Nisa), picked us up to go the Governor’s Office to exercise

•    Me and Dane experienced the Zumba of Indonesian called “Puchu puchu”. It is very exciting moment because there are many people in the field and we are welcomed in the event. 

•    After the activity, we went to the front of Governor’s Office and luckily, we met the Governor and we have a picture with him.

•    We went to the market outside the Governor’s office and we looked for some souvenirs and food like Sosis, Nasi Goreng, and Tebu.

•    After we came home, Valenda picked us up to go to Saint Gregory The Great, Jambi.

•    When we arrived home, we cooked some Philippine delicacies for our friends.

Day 4 (August 6, 2018) Monday

•    UNJA deployed us on our different schools. Me, Anandha, and Rocky are deployed in SMAN 5. Dhane, Robin, and Bambie are deployed SMP7. And lastly, Noon and Bird are deployed SD 47. 

•    Me, Rocky and Anandha were introduced by maam Rahmalia and Dr. Sukendro in front of our mentors, curriculum coordinator, and especially the principal.

•    When we met our mentors, they warmly welcomed us and talked about many things like the school, students, and the environment in the school.

•    We ate lunch, they have celebration because 2 of their faculty members will go the Mecca to participate in Hajj. We ate Rendang, Ayam Goreng, etc.

•    One of the teachers of Physical Education, sir Efferi brought us in his class and he let us introduce ourselves. The class seems very excited because they are all happy and loud because they knew that we will stay for one month and see each other every day in the campus.

•    After the class, we went to the teacher room and talked to our mentors to see our schedule for observation of the class. Maam Ning helped me to talk to my mentor because my mentor is not able to speak in English but can understand some words.

•    When we came home, we rest and ate our dinner sponsored by Thailand friends. They cooked vegetable and it is very delicious.

Day 5 (August 7, 2018) Tuesday

•    All of us woke up 4:30am because our first class to observe is 7:00am and in our school the gate close at 7:00 and it will open again 7:45, so we need to fix oures early. We are ready around 6:20 and sir Robi picked us up and brought us to our different schools.

•    We arrived on our school 6:35, me, Rocky, and Nuuk (Anandha) are shocked because when we go the gate, the principal let us see the students and they come to us like they will greet us by doing like (mano po) or bless in our country. 200 students did that to us and I felt very happy because I have new learning about their culture.

•    I started observing the class and I introduced myself. They are all listening and looked excited for the whole time because maam Asrita said that I will teach them next week. The subject that maam Asrita teaching is footsal for grade 10 and grade 11.

•    I observed another class and it is different because the first that I observed are Social class and the next class is Science class. Same attitude and same reactions, they felt excited for the next days that will come.

•    After the class, 3 students accompanied me go to the bank (BNI) to exchange my money. Their name are Jeff, Raja, and Rey, they are all accommodating, good, and funny.

•    After that, lunch time, they accompanied me to canteen with Nuuk and Rocky. We ate some Nasi Soto, and Gado-gado, my favorite because it is very delicious.

•    The last class I observed is Grade 10 and they are all participating in the class and very energize because they are playing their favorite sport, footsal.

•    When we came home, we cooked friend chicken and adobong sitaw for our friends. And after that, we slept and rest.

Day 6 (August 8, 2018) Wednesday

•    I observed one class (IPS1 Grade 11) same subject but different topic because they tackled about passing and shooting in footsal and the Grade 10 are just tackling about dribbling in footsal. They are all participating and active in the class.

•    After the class, we gathered at the logo of SMAN 5 and take a picture with 2 students to give appreciation because they won in the competition in the local schools.

•    After that, maam Asrita gave me time to rest because last night  there is no electricity in our dormitory and the mosquito is all around our room. Me and Rocky cannot sleep even we have blanket because it is very hot. Thank God our mentors are very kind, and they gave us time to sleep. 

•    When we woke up, nana Ida cooked us some kangkong, fish and potatoes, it is very delicious (enak nian) even if it is spicy.

•    After eating, I went to Jamtos and bought some fruits for me to gain more energy. After buying some fruits, I went home and sleep again for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

•    When I woke up, I went straight to the school to exercise and to coach the basketball team of SMA5.

•    When we came home, our Thailand friends cooked for us some Thailand noodles, it is very delicious! After eating, we fixed ourselves and keep ourselves ready for the next day.

Day 7 (August 9, 2018) Thursday

•    After the morning routine, we went to school and tackled about our required report that UNJA assigned to us. It is about the Profile, curriculum, syllabus, and many more that we need to report about our assigned school.

•    After discussing the report, I came again in (Grade 11 IPS5, Social Class) and observe them for two hours.

•    When we finished observing in this day, we took a Grab and went to Jamtos to buy some foods.

•    After we came home, I surprised my friends because it’s been a week that we are together, and I treated them our dinner. Nana Ida cooked for us some Indonesian fried chicken, vegetables, fish, and friend spicy tofu. After that, we fixed ourselves, review the school’s lesson plan, and rest.
