Activities During the Week

Day 15 (August 17, 2018) Friday

•    This is the Independence Day of Indonesia and when I arrived in SMA5, there are all wearing batik and after that they started the program. After the program, we took a lot of pictures for my remembrance.

•     I prepared some special food to them. I cooked friend oyster mushroom for our lunch inside the teacher room. They asked what happened to me, Rocky, and Anandha and they are saddened for what happened to our situation.

•    After the celebration, my friends fetched me to watch movie in the mall near Gentala Arasy. We watched “Slender Man” and the cinema is cool and the mall crowded because it is holiday and many people are celebrating the day. 

•    When we came home, we celebrated the Independence Day with Nana Ida and she said “Eat all you can, it is all free” I will never forget it because she is always like that to us, very generous, kind and always smiling like my grandmother.

Day 16 (August 18, 2018) Saturday
•    When I woke up, Raja Saad, Jeff, and Rey picked me up in my dormitory and we went to SMA3 to play basketball and badminton again with the varsity players of SMA5 and other people of Jambi. 

•    I arrived home and started again my report, lesson plan, and other activities to teach in the next days.

Day 17 (August 19, 2018) Sunday

•    Because on what happened in Immigration, we decided not to exercise in the Governor’s Office because it is too crowded. We just stayed whole day in our dormitory and continue to make our lesson plan, report, presentation.

•    The family of sir Eddy, a lecturer of Jambi University and he is married in a Filipina visited us in our dormitory and gave us some Filipino foods.

•    When I’m doing my lesson, my auntie called me and said that my grandmother was hospitalized and said that she is on critical condition because she had aneurism. It burst me out and I cried a lot because she is very important to me and she served as my second mother because we are just three in our house. After that, I can’t sleep because I’m not comfortable on what will happen for tomorrow.

Day 18 (August 20, 2018) Monday

•    I messaged my cooperating teacher that I cannot attend my class because on what happened yesterday evening and she understand my situation and tell me to relax and be ready on what will happen.

•    In the afternoon, my mother messaged me that they will bring home my grandmother because when the doctor removed the life-support, she is not breathing, so the doctor told my family that there is no chance of living, and by hearing that, me and my mother cried a lot in our conversation because it is very sad that I’m not there with my grandmother to take care of her. And they decided to bring her home for last time and I called my mother to tell all what I want to say to my grandmother.

•    My friend Putri is beside me that time and I am thankful because she is guiding me on that moment, she is like my sister and I will never forget that time that she is helping me to be better. 

•    After that I talked to myself that my grandmother is proud of me for what am I doing here in Indonesia. I just kept in my mind that this is for her, and I will do better in the rest of my days in Jambi.

•    I decided to finish my program fast to come home and visit my grandmother’s last day before she got her last ceremony.

•    In the evening, I continued my lesson and my evaluation to my students and myself ready for tomorrow’s practice teaching.

Day 19 (August 21, 2018) Tuesday

•    When I arrived in the school, I feel the heaviness of my heart, but I kept in my mind to be strong and not to show to my students that I am facing something. And I begin my class very active and I started it with a warm-up before I start my discussion, practice, and evaluation.

•    I taught them dribbling and shooting in basketball.

•    I started from 7am – 12nn and I handled three class

•    After that I started to fill my timetable paper with my cooperating teacher

•    After we ate lunch, Mama Ning brought me to the husband of her sister, it is like a small museum full of beautiful and priceless paintings.

•    In the evening, our Thai friend cooked us some “goto” and it was very delicious.

Day 20 (August 22, 2018) Wednesday

•    The International Office of Jambi University fetched us nine o’clock in the morning. We went to Kaka Ikma’s house because they are celebrating the Eid al-Adha where they are cutting the cow’s head as a form of sacrifice. It honors the willingness of Ibrahin (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.

•    After the celebration, we went to a park in Kota Jaru. It is very beautiful and peaceful place where the family or couple can relax and spend time together.

•    In the evening, Nana Ida prepared us some very delicious foods, and it’s free. *laughing*. She gave us our remembrance because she will go to Yogyakarta to visit her grandson because of sickness. We are all saddened because we are used to see her every day and we hugged each other and took a photo for remembrance.

Day 21 (August 23, 2018) Thursday

•    When I arrived to school, the principal (sir Harun Sohar) cutted the head of the cow for the celebration of Eid al-Adha and I saw it live and I’m like very sad because of what happened on the cow.

•    After that, I started to teach my class (IPS4 – IPS5 XI) with the same topic about dribbling and shooting in basketball. I am very happy because they are all participative and active in my class.

•    After my class, Bang Fatwa, and Putri joined me to go to the airport to reschedule my domestic flight from August 31 to August 27. And when we finished it, Putri brought me to her house and we booked another ticket for my international flight from Jakarta to Manila on August 27.
